Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
