Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
